As millions of our children return to school, the United States is getting ready for large-scale pediatric COVID-19 infections, with record numbers of children testing positive for the Covid-19 virus every day.

In the last week alone, over 250,000 children in the United States have tested positive for COVID-19, making the most significant increase in pediatric Covid-19 cases since this pandemic has begun.

According to new findings and reports from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children's Hospital Association since Covid-19 started over two years ago, more than 5 million children have tested positive for the virus. According to the organizations, in the last month, there have been more than 750,000 pediatric cases. This is a significant rise, due to our children returning to school after a long summer break.

"I remember when my first child started Kindergarten many years ago, I had not been exposed to any young children of school age for more than two decades; I had no siblings that had children, nor any friends at that time with children. To say the least, I was sick all the time; being in my late twenties, I was not taking flu shots. My daughter brought every virus she could catch back home for us. The new weekly numbers suggest that they are nearly 300 times higher than in June of 2021, and at that time, only about 8,400 pediatric cases were reported weekly.

The new strain of the Nipah virus is not a direct descendant of the covid-19 virus strain. Nevertheless, it may have come from the same source and the Covid-19 virus, Bats.

We believe this new virus strain originated from fruit Bats or flying foxes.

Also, scientists report that pigs are highly susceptible to the virus and can contact it through the bats' fruit material.

According to the CDC, other domestic animals like horses, goats, sheep, cats, and dogs can become infected.

Humans can come into contact with fruit that has been contaminated and then become infected with the virus.

"We believe there to be a large estimated number of people already infected with the new virus strain, due to lack of adequate abilities of health care to diagnose the virus strain.

The New Strain, What are the symptoms?

Symptoms of the Nipah virus vary from asymptomatic to acute respiratory infection and encephalitis, the swelling of tissue in the brain that can be fatal.

People Infected can have a sore throat, fever, headaches, muscle and body pains; if allowed to progress, you may experience dizziness and altered consciousness that are signs of encephalitis.

Symptoms range from four to more than fourteen days after exposure, and there are currently no vaccines available to treat this virus strain.

"There is no good treatment for it," Doctors say. "They put you in the hospital, but there is nothing much else they can do."

The World Health Organization reports that 40% to 75% of Nipah cases are fatal compared to the COVID-19 fatality rate of around 2%.

People in the United States, should we be worried?

Doctors said people in the United States do not need to worry much about the Nipah virus because it has been isolated to Asia regions where fruit bats live.

Nevertheless, there is always a chance someone can bring the virus into a new area.

"What concerns us the most is how individuals travel," scientists say. "When travel was more restricted, you did not see these cases of so many pathogens traveling the globe."

Doctors hope that the United States will learn from the COVID-19 pandemic mistakes and take a proactive role instead of a reactive.

There is going to be many more emerging pathogens," Doctors say."

"Again, it seems as though history is repeating itself because we are again unprepared."

Please let us take this pandemic more seriously, adults will keep denying it or having some excuse not to get vaccinated, but whats happens when the children start getting sick? Will this spur some of those people to take measures to be safer. I wonder if this year might be an excellent time to home school our children. I do understand that not all of us can implement homeschooling, but the ones who can make it all a little safer for themselves, their families, and maybe even the rest of us a little bit.
